“Winterkist Blog Hop…”

Tap, tap, tap…is this thing still working?  :)  As we are in the final week of the summer fun…I will be back to posting regularly very soon.  I have been busy with a couple of trips and when the kids are sleeping I am getting things done…more to show soon BUT for now…I’m next in line for the Winterkist Blog Hop.

Have you seen the new line of fabric–Winterkist–by none other than the infamous Monica of Happy Zombie?  Well you’ll want to get your hands on some quick…it is expected to be out any day now.  I was lucky enough to get some when my ”BBFWWTBMABFIWLITST” {my blog best friend who would totally be my actual best friend if we lived in the same town}, Katie of There & Back asked me to join in on the blog hopping fun.  She knows me so well, she sent the orange and pink color way…totally my colors.

At first I thought that I wanted to make my little one’s new christmas pillowcases.  They have “little people” pillows and I love to make them new pillowcases for special occasions…yes, I’m a dork like that.  :)  But after playing around with it more and more, I decided to make them placemats…or mug rugs, whichever suits your fancy.

Isn’t that gnoma just the cutest?  I used some wonder under and practiced my blanket stitch on my machine.

I really enjoyed sewing these together because I let the fabric “speak” to me.  It was so freeing…

Guess what?!  It’s your lucky day {or week}…Fat Quarter Shop has been so generous to giveaway fat quarter bundles to a couple of lucky winners during this blog hop.  Katie will be picking a winner every Friday from all of the comments each weekday of the blog hop.  That’s 5 chances a week! So make sure that you go and check out each blog…she’s got some amazing bloggers lined up.  Which bundle would you choose?  Perhaps a little Winterkist?

“a little stitching…”

it’s been a bit of an interesting summer and with the kids home there really isn’t much sewing going on over here.  though i have been able to get a little bit done, it’s definitely not as much as i had hoped.  the kids are having fun!  and i guess that is what summer is all about…

i am enjoying my handstitched camp and i have fallen a tad behind but i am making head way in catching back up.  however, my daughter has reaped the benefits of what i have learned.  when she saw my flocked tee she immediately asked me to make her one.  i found a cute $7, 4th of july dress from wal-mart and immediately thought, reverse applique some stars on it.  genius!

nothing like being all festive even down to the nail polish… :)

she was pretty much done with me taking pictures…

what an easy way to take a simple dress and make it cute.  to take it one step further…i had to complete the ensemble with the embroidered head band…

and last but certainly not least, my mama taught me not to exclude our friends.  so they had to have a little something festive to wear too.  aren’t they sassy?!

miss sassy pants loves them and i loved making them for her!

“what you’ve all been waiting for…patchwork prism winners!”

i am sorry for the delay.  when i went on vacation i knew that i would be able to announce the winners but wouldn’t you know that my mother-in-law’s internet would have a glitch. {did the internet gods not get the memo that i had something very important that i had to do?}  it’s a very small island {no cars, just golf carts} and the luxuries that we are used to are not available {ie:  places that offer wifi}…so i was forced to disconnect from the world.  i will be spending time over the next couple of days responding to email, so if you have sent me a comment or email over the last little bit, i will be in touch soon.  :)

anyways…on to what you have all been patiently waiting to see…who won the prizes for the patchwork prism quilt along!

you all did amazing jobs but you made it extremely hard to choose winners!  i wish i had enough prizes to hand out to everyone and i was thankful for help from our guest judges, kati and angela.
